smctx

smctx: information for IT departments

Unofficial project, not affiliated with OpenText. It is not endorsed or supported by OpenText, and it indexes the publicly available OpenText Service Manager 9.81 documentation.

PurposeRead-only search over the public OpenText Service Manager 9.81 documentation, used by AI coding assistants on a few invited colleagues’ machines.
Hostnames (no wildcards)smctx.dev (this site) and mcp.smctx.dev (the API endpoint, path /mcp)
Port and protocol443/TCP, HTTPS (TLS). Nothing else is required.
Data flowOnly the query text and documentation page slugs are sent. Nothing is sent about the user’s machine, files or code. The responses are public documentation text.
AuthenticationA personal Bearer token in the Authorization header, issued per person by invitation.
TLS certificateA publicly trusted certificate authority used by Cloudflare. The issuer can change over time; to see the current one run: openssl s_client -connect mcp.smctx.dev:443 -servername mcp.smctx.dev </dev/null 2>/dev/null | openssl x509 -noout -issuer
IP addressesTraffic goes through Cloudflare, so the addresses are Cloudflare’s published ranges, not a fixed server IP. The list is published at www.cloudflare.com/ips. Allowlist by hostname where your proxy can.
StreamingResponses may use text/event-stream. Proxies must not buffer or cut event streams on mcp.smctx.dev.
TLS inspectionIf your proxy inspects TLS, Node-based clients need the corporate root CA, for example via NODE_EXTRA_CA_CERTS.
LoggingEvery tool call is logged against your personal token: the token owner, the tool, the query text or page slug, the number of results, the response size, the latency, the status and the time. The usage log stores no IP address and no user agent; rate-limit events record only a truncated network prefix (/24 for IPv4, /48 for IPv6) in the server journal. The usage log is used only to improve search quality and is not shared with anyone. It is not purged automatically; on request your rows are deleted. Do not put confidential or customer data in queries. Traffic is carried by Cloudflare, which processes it in transit.
